This month we’ll be sharing a series of posts discussing some specific ways you can use various social media channels to help your group maximize your fundraising efforts and reach your fundraising goals. Before we get into the specifics of how to use social media it is important to understand the role of Social Media in Fundraising.
“47% of Americans learn about causes via social media and online channels.” [TWEET THIS]
Social media is not only the preferred medium but also one of the best platforms for reaching your audience and promoting your message. Social media is a terrific way to spread the word far and wide. Not only is it easy, it can be a very effective communication tool and a valuable means of promoting your Fundraiser.
Tell your story. Don’t just ask the community for their money. Tell them about your group. How many children are in your school? How long have you been together as a group? Share something unique and interesting that sets your group apart.
Share your cause. What are you raising money for? Who will benefit from the fundraiser? People like to get behind a cause. Understanding your purpose and why you need their support is critical!
Use multiple creative communication methods across a variety of social media channels to reach more people. Social Media is a living and evolving platform for communication. Remember the old adage, “What happens in the real world, also happens in the social space.” So after you have reached your fundraising goals remember to celebrate your success via the same social media channels you leveraged to get there!
Honor your biggest sellers. Share pictures of your post fundraiser party. Write a post fundraiser success story sharing how the money that was raised was used. Not only is this rewarding for all involved but it helps continue to generate interest and raise awareness of your cause for future fundraisers.
