It’s that time of year again. The time when we focus on the development of new fundraising products. What started as an idea gives birth to a new product that goes into production, is tested, tweaked and made perfect until finally it is ready for the big reveal. And at last the time has come. Introducing the newest member of our line of Pasta with Personality® pasta fundraising products…..Puzzle Pasta for Autism Spectrum Disorder!!!
Take a look at this adorable pasta. Support kids with autism. The cute label was designed by Darrell W. (class of 2015) at Stafford High School Designs in Texas. Here he is with Darla Farmer.
Why Puzzle Pasta, you might ask? Every purchase supports a child living with Autism Spectrum Disorder or (ASD). A portion of the proceeds from Puzzle Pasta supports children living with ASD.
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological disorder that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. The word spectrum depicts the various degrees of autism. Some people are severely affected, cannot speak, require constant one-on-one care, and are never able to live independently. While others who have less severe symptoms, can communicate, and eventually can acquire the necessary skills to live on their own.
What is the significance and meaning of the Puzzle piece?
Just like ASD, the puzzle piece is multi-faceted. For some it represents the mechanical nature of thought process for those on the spectrum. The bright colors represent hope.
Facts about ASD:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the leading developmental disability in the United States; more common than AIDS, cancer and diabetes combined.
- In 2014, the CDC estimated one in 68 children is diagnosed with autism.
- ASD is almost 5 times more common among boys (1 in 42) than among girls (1 in 189).
- ASD does not discriminate.
- All racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups are affected.
There is no cure for ASD. However, early intervention is key.
We love fundraising products that help support nonprofits and this not only does that but gives back as well. Puzzle Pasta will be available FALL 2015. For more information on ASD and how you can be the difference, check out these websites.
