Campus Fundraiser

The campus fundraiser is the perfect opportunity for students to come together and raise money for their school group or organization. Fraternities and sororities often hold these several times during the school year to keep their budgets in check.

Planning the campus fundraiser can be as taxing as the actual fundraiser itself, especially when it has to be planned around school studies and part-time jobs. To make it even more difficult to plan is the target audience is the students themselves. The fundraiser has to be able to catch and keep their attention long enough to get them excited enough to spend their money on the product or service or event that is being held.

These facts simply mean that the campus fundraiser must be creative and exciting and should be simple to organize. If the event requires a lot of pre-planning there should be ample volunteers from the group to help get the project underway. There are many different campus fundraisers that are successful including those listed here:

Food sales: College students love to eat. An easy way to raise funds is to put together a hot dog sale or barbecue and sell plates. This can be a pre-ticketed event, especially if a barbecue is being considered, or it can be sold on a first come, first served basis until the food runs out.

Another idea for raising money with food is to host a cook-off. This could be a chili cook-off or a barbecue. The participants are charged an entry fee and people purchase tickets that allow them to sample each of the participants finished product and vote for their favorite. This project can be as large or as small as the campus group wants it to be.

Music: Music brings the masses together no matter how young or old they might be. Practically every campus has at least one aspiring band that would be happy to enter a battle of the bands contest. Community bands can also be solicited. Bands would perform and be judged by the students who pay to come and see them perform. The sponsoring organization can also sell concessions and t-shirts that commemorate the day in order to add to the funds being raised.

Music fundraisers are huge hits and typically take more planning than other types of campus fundraisers. School officials should be notified and rules followed to insure the project goes smoothly.

School spirit: Everyone knows that college students are proud of their school and playing on that school pride is a great way to earn funds. Organizations can choose a product that shows their school spirit; unique the product is the better the sales will be.
